When Family Gathers

This August, I went on a road trip to visit some beloved family members to shoot a family portrait for them on location. I had the unique privilege of staying two nights with this crew to celebrate my Aunt’s birthday. The funny thing was I that I started shooting within 45 minutes of arrival, I’m so glad I was able to encounter all these wonderful little second cousins in fine form and I was able to quickly engage with them and become an interesting new person in their lives.

For my Aunt Verla, gathering three generations into a singular portrait was something she had always dreamed of and I had always wanted to do for her. It’s always a treat for me to photograph people I love. Happy birthday Auntie. ❤️
